Benjamin E. Stanton, son of John & Margeret Peveley Stanton, born in Tenn., Benj. md. Matilda Baldwin and settled in Platte Co., Mo., moving To Andrew Co., Mo.. In 1853 Benj. was prepaing to Migrate to Oregon, in Spring of 1853 they started in Company with others in a Wagon Train; Children were; Mary Ann; Margaret; Andrew B., Elizabeth L, John E, Matilda Jane & Benjamin, Jr. They went to Oregon by way of Barlow Rd., around Mt. Hood. Little Ben became sick and died at Laurel Hill. They carried the body for two days until they could reach Foster's place, a resting place for all. After crossing the mountains, they buried Little Ben. Then on to Willamette River in Marion Co. where they bought a claim of another family, later, the father Benjamin went back and removed little Ben to a Cemetery near their new home. There Little Ben sleeps.
