Aug. 23, 1912; Oregonian, p 5 "Condon Pioneer is Dead" Condon, Or., Aug. 22 Mrs. Thomas S. Woodfin died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Milton Washburn, Saturday, aged 87 years. Mrs. Woodfin crossed the plains by ox team in 1847 and settled near Jefferson, Or. With her husband Thomas S. Woodfin, she went to California during the gold excitement in 1849. Her party had some thrilling experiences with hostile Indians. They came back to Oregon in 1870, settling on a donation claim near Brownsville, Linn County. In 1880 they came to Gilliam County, where she had resided ever since. Mrs. Woodfin leaves to mourn her loss three daughters and four sons, namely: J. A. Woodfin, of Palouse, Idaho; Mrs. Nancy E. Trivett, Mrs. Olive Washburn, J. H., F. M. and D. H. Woodfin, all of Condon, and Mrs. M. F. Bunch, of Ceres, Cal., besides 34 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
