Mrs. Taylor enjoyed gardening and crafts, including making Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus dolls. Winter, who preceded him in death. Mr. Perdue was a heavy equipment operator for Jackson County for 34 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Golden City. Mr. Perdue was a member of Ashland Elks Lodge, and the Eagles Lodge in Medford, where he was a member of the drill team. He enjoyed dancing and working in the garden. He was born Feb. 21, 1914, in Bloomfield, Neb. After graduation from Bloomfield High in Nebraska, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in the Black Hills of South Dakota and in Coquille. In 1937, in Yankton, S.D., he married Helen Gross, who survives. He moved to Omaha, Neb., where he attended the University of Nebraska and received a bachelor's degree in education in 1938, and was selected all-conference in basketball. He then attended the University of Oregon for a short time, before earning his master's degree in education from Oregon State College. Mr. Boldenow was a teacher and a coach in Medford and St. Helens, as well as in Nebraska and Colorado. He taught 15 different subjects, and coached for 50 years. He spent 25 years teaching in Corvallis, and 20 years as a track coach. He was one of the few coaches in Oregon to receive an award from the Oregon Coaches Association for 50 years of service. During the summers, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service at the Butte Falls Ranger District. Following his retirement, he spent another 10 years as an assistant coach in Eugene. He was a member of the Benton County Sheriff's Posse, the National Educators Association, the Oregon Education Association and the Oregon Coaches Association. He also became a foster father for two young men. Mr. Boldenow enjoyed woodworking, fishing and camping. During her early years in Ashland she was also active with the Campfire Girls. He transferred to Colorado, then to Medford in 1971, to work as chief of dental services at the Veterans Administration Domiciliary in White City, retiring in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Dr. Butts was a member of the Rogue Valley Country Club. He enjoyed golf, playing bridge, and traveling. He was born on Jan. 17, 1920 in Kennet, Calif., and raised in the Northern California area. On Dec. 17, 1939, in Clyde, Calif., he married Dollie Katherine Fairhurst, who survives. Mr. Farnsworth graduated from Washington State College in Pullman, Wash., in 1943. Before World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. During World War II he served in the Navy. As a seaman first class, he was a pilot of a PBM Patrol Bomber. Mr. Farnsworth worked briefly for Boeing in Seattle, and then began a 17-year career as a commercial crop-dusting pilot. During this time he designed a special dust applicator and a high-lift wing for Stearman Crop Dusters. He flew more than 30,000 hours during his career as a pilot. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1968, where he worked as an aircraft and engine mechanic for a local helicopter firefighting firm. He then worked as a turret lathe operator for Vicker Inc., retiring in 1985. Mr. Farnsworth was past president of the Little Butte Mountain Men Muzzle-loading Club. He also volunteered at the Southern Oregon Historical Society, and at local elementary schools, telling stories about mountain men. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed mall-walking at the Rogue Valley Mall. He was recognized for walking more than 5,000 miles. Mr. Farnsworth attended the Medford Southwest Church of the Nazarene where his eldest son is the pastor. He moved to the Rogue River from California in 1946 and continued working as a carpenter. Mr. Salter was a self-employed general contractor. He moved to Medford in 1971 and was active in the building trade until his retirement in 1981. He was named Builder of the Year in 1974 by the Home Builders Association of Jackson County. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, flying transport planes over India. Mr. Salter was one of the original organizers of the Valley of the Rogue Bank, serving as director for 20 years. He also served 11 years on the Rogue River School Board and seven years on the Jackson County Planning Commission. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Order and a lifetime member of Warren Lodge No. 10 in Jacksonville. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and was active in the Hillah Temple Shrine. Mr. Salter was a member of the Rogue River Presbyterian Church. Mr. Tipton served in the U.S. Army during World War II, at Camp White, and in the Asiatic Pacific campaign as a cook and sharpshooter. He enjoyed music, and sang and played the guitar in small bands in the Valley. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Survivors include two sons, Tom and Don, both Shady Cove; a brother, Ralph, Central Point, and 12 other siblings in Alabama; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Reichman was a founder of the Montague Improvement Club, now the Valley Community Club. She wrote 10 histories covering her life, her husband’s, her parents, her grandparents, her husband’s parents and his grandparents. She and her husband were world travelers and visited nearly every country in the world. Following her husband’s death, she traveled to Antarctica, Tibet, Africa, New Guinea, South America, the Far East, and the Middle East, and was a member of the million mile travel club. She was also an accomplished artist who did pastel portraits of Seri Indians of Senora, Mexico. Her art is known and respected in Mexico and the Southwestern United States. She helped found and remained a member of the Club Deportivo, Bahis Kino, Senora, Mexico. He lived in Eugene in the late 1960s, and in Portland from 1971 to 1976, when he moved to the Rogue Valley. On Sept. 12, 1992, in Redstone, Colo., he married Cathy Kruse, who survives. In Ashland, Mr. Sause owned Papa D’s Pizza, built and started Ashland Woodworks in 1978, and The Breadboard in 1981. He also built the Lube Express in Medford, which was the first quick lube and oil change business in the area, and the Oil Stop and Crater Car Wash on Crater Lake Highway in Medford. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. Mr. Sause enjoyed motorcross racing in the Willamette Valley in the 1960s and ’70s, architecture and creating businesses. In 1966, he moved to San Franciso, where he worked a few years with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. For several years after that, he was the regional claims adjuster at Hilton Hotel Corp. In 1984, he retired and moved to Sacramento, Calif. He moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1995. Mr. Stephenson enjoyed traveling abroad and collecting antiques. During his career he served as job superintendent on numerous commercial projects and had extensive hands-on construction experience, including working as plumber foreman and general foreman on the Baker Creek Dam project in Concrete, Wash., and as plumber foreman for school and residential construction in Barrow, Alaska. He served as executive secretary to the Mechanical Board of Examiners and Appeals. He was a member of the local plumbers unions in Olympia and Anchorage as well as the International Plumbers Union. Mr. Bridges was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Elks, Masons, Scottish Rite and Alaska Shrine. He was an active sportsman and outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. She was born Dec. 3, 1913, in Cleveland, the daughter of Otto and Mary Pearson. She graduated from East High School in Cleveland in 1932 as one of eight honor students initiated into the National Honor Society. On July 18, 1953, in Pacific Palisades, Calif., she married Alvin Chilton, who died in 1997. In 1955, they purchased property on the Rogue River near Galice, and began constructing Rogue Glen Lodge, which opened in 1958. During World War II, Mrs. Chilton served as secretary to the communications engineer in Fairbanks, Alaska, then as secretary to the chief of the aircraft maintenance section in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. After moving to Los Angeles in 1946, she became the secretary of a world-famous economist, and became interested in architecture during the construction of his home. When the economist died, she was offered a job with the architect, and continued working in Los Angeles until her retirement in 1977. After her retirement, she concentrated on the Rogue Glen Lodge near Galice, which she and her husband had built. Mrs. Chilton was a member of the Architectural Secretaries Association, and was awarded Lifetime Membership, both by the National and the Los Angeles Chapter, where she was a charter member. She was elected national treasurer in 1973 and 1976 and served on the national bylaws committee in 1974 and 1975, and as chairman in 1976 and 1977. They lived most of their married life in Oregon, where they raised their children. In 1966, they moved to the Rogue Valley from Salem, and she lived there until 2001, when she moved to Chiloquin to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Mrs. Cunningham was a homemaker. She was an avid baseball fan, loyal to the Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed flower gardening, nature, cooking, and travel, including weekend fishing trips to the Central Oregon high lakes with her family, and trips to Alaska and Florida to visit her children. Mr. Bennington, 76, of, Medford, died Monday (May 20, 2002) after a lengthy battle with progressive dementia, cardiac disease, prostate cancer and pneumonia. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2860 State St., Medford, OR 97504. He was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Whiteville, Ohio, to Dewey and Agnes Bennington. The family moved during the Great Depression to Southern Oregon, where his father started a logging company near Keno. He worked in logging with his father from 1932 to 1935, when his father died. The family then moved to Klamath Falls, where he worked a paper route before and after school, and at farming during the summers. He graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1942. He married Phyllis Liskey, who survives. They made their home in Klamath Falls. Mr. Bennington worked at farming, truck driving and construction for various companies, including Sesslers and Heaton Steel and Supply Co., until he founded Bennington Steel Building Co. in 1957. He specialized in steel building construction, representing Butler Steel Buildings from 1957 until 1973. His company built thousands of buildings from Walla Walla, Wash., to San Diego, including many local landmark buildings. At one time Bennington Steel had the largest standing crew of iron workers from Sacramento, Calif., to Portland. From 1973 until his retirement in 1991, he also worked at construction consulting, farm equipment sales for the Floyd A. Boyd Co., and outside sales for the Heaton Steel and Supply Co. In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces as an air crew trainee. After training, he was deployed as an M.P. and served stateside, qualifying as a weapons specialist with pistol and carbine. Mr. Bennington was a private pilot and enjoyed flying his Cessna 180 and later, his Piper Comanche. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, alpine skiing and motorcycle racing. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Brad, Medford, and James T., Gresham; two daughters, Roxanne Klingberg, Klamath Falls, and Cindy Foor, Paradise, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, working as a radioman in both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters. Mr. Dodge was a ham radio operator.
