Lawrence A. Johnson
Lawrence A. Johnson, 70, died Feb. 21, 2000, of natural causes at his Klamath Falls home.
A memorial service was held this morning in Dorris Church of the Nazarene with The Rev. Rick Harrison officiating. Ward's Klamath Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Nebraska to Freeman and Magdalene (Schwartz) Johnson.
He left school after the eighth grade to help his family during the Great Depression years. He held various jobs in the Stockton and San Francisco areas in California before joining the Army.
He served during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, among other medals.
After his military service, he moved to Butte Valley, where he met and married Lou Sunkdivist. They had four children: Carol, James, Elaine and Janet.
Mr. Johnson worked for 30 years for Dorris Lumber and Moulding Co.
He later lived in Merrill with his second wife, Lois, before relocating to Klamath Falls, where he lived the rest of his life.
His hobbies included fishing and doing puzzles and models. He also enjoyed designing and making wood furniture, toys and decorative items. He donated many handcrafted items for auctions to benefit children's charities.
Among his survivors are his second wife, Lois Johnson of Merrill; son, James Johnson of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; daughter, Elaine Brown of Rancho Cordova; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Alejandro Moreno of Dorris; stepdaughters, Roxanne Baltozor and her husband, Ken, of Meridian, Idaho, and Jody Fisher and her husband, Ray, of Merrill; stepson, Barry Aschoff and his wife, Joy, of Kalispell, Mont.; four grandchildren, including Robert Johnson and Nicholas Hernandez of Dorris; six stepgrandchildren; step-granddaughter, Angela Gelbrich and her husband, Travis, of Central Point.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Lorene Anderson
Lorene Anderson, 75, died Feb. 25, 2000, of cancer in a Klamath Falls foster care home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Eternal Hills Funeral Home with Pastor Silas Jones officiating. Private interment will be in Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday in Eternal Hills Funeral Home.
Mrs. Anderson was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Dierks, Ark., to Nealy and Lola (Cox) Watson.
She lived in Arkansas and California before moving to Oregon.
She was a Klamath Falls resident since 1947.
Mrs. Anderson was self employed as a foster care home owner before her retirement.
She enjoyed horses and quilting in her younger years and especially enjoyed family activities.
She was a member of Registered Care Providers Association and the Victory Temple.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dee Dee Anderson of Klamath Falls; brothers, Dale Watson of Medford, Doyle Watson of Salem and Jim Watson of Coos Bay; sisters, Letha Wright of Redding and Shirley Tucker of Klamath Falls; grandchildren, Rick Anderson and Shannon McDaniel, Jeff and Shelli Anderson and Katie Smith of Klamath Falls; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Darrian and Jarred Anderson of Klamath Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
She also leaves a special friend, Harold Myran, and extended family members Ellen Hogan of Eugene and Peggy and Jim Iler of Baker City.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rick Anderson, in 1967.

Vennie Lucille Oshiro
Vennie Lucille Oshiro, 77, Bly, died Feb. 26, 2000, of natural causes in Klamath Falls.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Eternal Hills Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Drake officiating. Interment will be in Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held before the services.
Mrs. Oshiro was born July 21, 1922, in Sallisaw, Okla., to John and Cassie (Wilburn) King.
She completed eight grades of her education.
She married Mitsuo Oshiro in Las Vegas in 1967.
Mrs. Oshiro loved cooking, reading, sewing and being with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Mitsuo Oshiro of Bly; daughters, Sharlet Docherty of Ocean Shores, Wash., and Deborah Gibbs of Oxnard, Calif.; sisters, Pauline Rios of Fallbrook, Calif., Jean Churder of Riverside, Calif., and Eve Hartenbach of Laguna Hills, Calif.; brother, James King of Kalispell, Mont.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Troy King.

Orville ‘Ram’ Benjamin Lawver
Orville “Ram” Benjamin Lawver, 63, died May 29, 2000, in Salem.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ward’s Kla-math Funeral Home in Kla-math Falls. Interment will follow at Schon-chin Cemetery and a feast of Mr. Lawver’s favorite food will follow that at the Irwin Wieser Community Center in Beatty.
Mr. Lawver was born June 27, 1936, at Klamath Agency and raised in Sprague River.
He was a graduate of Kla-math Union High School.
While in high school, he was an accomplished athlete, especially in football and wrestling, and won several state championships in wrestling.
He was also an honor roll student.
He attended Bacone Junior College in Muskogee, Okla., and was a member of the school’s football team when it won the Junior Rose Bowl Champion-ship.
Mr. Lawver then received an academic scholarship to Lewis & Clark College in Portland, where he was a member of the football, wrestling and baseball teams. As a wrestler there, he went all the way to the national level.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree from the college, he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers professional football team.
Following a brief career as a member of the Packers, he returned to Lewis & Clark College to obtain his master’s degree in teaching.
Then, realizing a dream of his, Mr. Lawver coached football and wrestling at Chemawa Indian School in Salem and Stuart Indian School in Carson City, Nev.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Lawver of Salem; daughters, Denise Lawver of Lake Oswego and Tracy Lawver of Portland; son, Todd Lawver of Portland; brothers, Albert Lawvor of Beatty and Alvin Lawver of Klamath Falls; aunt, Mary Lawver of Klamath Falls; grandchildren, Benjamin, Lee, Samuel, and Yvette Fricke of Lake Oswego; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.

Carlyle Hutchinson
Carlyle Hutchinson, 77, died May 29, 2000, in Klamath Falls.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Eternal Hills Funeral Home with Bob Marsalli officiating. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hutchinson was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Roosevelt, Okla., to Benjamin and Pearl (Crocker) Waterson.
After completing his high school education, he served in the Navy.
He was a member of Labor Union 170 of San Jose, Calif., for 30 years before moving to Klamath Falls and working for Swenson Construction.
He married his wife, Sarah, on June 8, 1961, in Carson City, Nev.
Mr. Hutchinson was a master gardener and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and other family members.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Hutchinson of Klamath Falls; son and daughter-in-law, Lindsey and Cathy Hutchinson of Klamath Falls; step-daughter, Opal Hurt of Klamath Falls; sisters, Eva Mae McDaniels of Sun City, Ariz., and Emma Harris of Hobart, Okla.; sister-in-law, Mary Row; brother-in-law and his wife, Leon and Naome Wall; grandchildren, Tara Kuester, Loni, Ryan, Violet and Sherri Hutchinson, Debby Olson, Sherry Grever, Cindy Neeser, Michelle Micheals, Mark McCandles, and Danny, Bruce and Shelly Hill; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Palli Jean Mitchell
Palli Jean Mitchell, 68, died May 29, 2000, of cancer at her home in Paisley.
Services were held Wednesday in Desert Rose Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with The Rev. Dan St. Clair officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Riverside, Calif.
Mrs. Mitchell was born Sept. 28, 1931, in Beaver, Okla., to Roy and Mildred (Bogue) Broadfoot.
She lived in Beaver until moving with her family when she was 13 years old to Southern California.
She graduated from Franklin High School in Highland, Calif., in 1939.
She married Joseph Mitchell on May 25, 1963, in Las Vegas.
They moved from Southern California to Paisley in 1993.
In addition to raising her family, Mrs. Mitchell worked for Xerox and General Dynamics for a number of years in Pomona, Calif.
She was an accomplished artist, musician, poet, and gardener.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Mitchell of Paisley; sons, Joe Mitchell of Upland, Calif., and Ed Mitchell of Pomona; daughters, Jody Baxter of Ellensburg, Wash., and Sherry Lynn Moore of Mira Loma, Calif.; brother, Dwayne “Foot” Broadfoot of Paisley; sister, Mildred Venable of Woodward, Okla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Michael Allen 'Mike' Borges
Michael Allen "Mike" Borges, 16, died from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident Aug. 15, 2000, near Bonanza.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd with Deacon Jim Roy officiating. Concluding prayers and interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be today until 7 p.m. and beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at Davenport's.
Michael was born July 6, 1984, in Klamath Falls, and was preparing to begin his junior year of high school. He was involved in FFA at Bonanza High School, where he demonstrated a talent for soil judging. He also won several metals in welding competitions. He held many trophies and ribbons from showing swine at the Klamath County Fair. Michael was motivated by a love for football and weightlifting. His dream was to play football for the University of Nebraska, and to someday make the pros. He enjoyed rising before dawn to go hunting. Although he never got his deer, he loved the hunt and spending time with his father.
Family members described Michael as a special and talented boy who was blessed by God, and who overcame every obstacle. He learned to read by kindergarten, and seemed to remember everything he learned.
Michael is survived by his parents, Mark and Rhonda Borges of Bonanza; brothers, James Robert Borges and Matthew Byrtle Borges of Bonanza; grandparents, Helen Borges of Lakeview, Jim and Shirley Tucker of Klamath Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. He also leaves many, many friends.

Mary Bernadine Britton
Mary Bernadine Britton, 75, died of pneumonia Aug. 16, 2000, in Klamath Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ward's Klam-ath Funeral Home with Allen Craig-miles officiating. Interment will follow at Klamath Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and beginning at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Britton was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Granite City, Ill., to Otto and Hazel (Brown) Sellemeyer. She was married in Reno on March 27, 1946, to James Murray "Red" Britton. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in 1997. He preceded her in death later in 1997. Mrs. Britton enjoyed spending time with her children, extended family and many friends. She was active in the community and was especially busy in local politics during her husband's 27-year career as Klamath County sheriff.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, William Murray Britton of Klamath Falls, John Marshall and Annette Britton of Longview, Wash., Michael Joseph and Cecilia Britton of Klamath Falls; daughters Mary Jane Duggan of Seattle, Janice Hughes of Tigard; grandchildren Christine Lyons of Enumclaw, Wash., John Duggan of Pendleton, Ryan Johnson and Brittney Johnson of Longview, Lisa Gregory of San Diego, Jennifer Combs of Boise, Jason Britton, Megan Britton, Rose Solomon all of Klamath Falls, Daniel Solomon of Florence, Ore.; great-grandchildren Austin Lyons and Paige Lyons of Enumclaw, Madison Gregory and Zachary Gregory of San Diego; sister-in-law Netta Britton of Klamath Falls; and five nephews and three nieces.

Jon Henry Slaughter Sr.
Jon Henry Slaughter Sr., 57, died Oct. 2, 2000, in Klamath Falls. Cause of death was not given.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Eternal Hills Funeral Home. Cremation will be by Eternal Hills Crematory.
Mr. Slaughter was born March 24, 1943, in Klamath Falls to Harold and Blanche (Short) Slaughter.
He married Laura Kannegaard on March 12, 1970.
He was employed by Collins Products at the time of his death.
Mr. Slaughter was a member of the Eagles Lodge since 1972, serving as its president in 1988 and 1989, and the Good Sam Pelicans since 1991, currently serving as its vice president.
He enjoyed four wheeling, hunting, camping and driving on back roads. He also loved to play pool.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Slaughter of Klamath Falls; son, John Slaughter Jr. of Klamath Falls; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Starla Yahne of Klamath Falls; daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Steve Federlin of Oregon City, Dona and Fred Zahler and Tina and Mike Hardman of Klamath Falls, and Laurie and Fred Hudgeons of Cedar Park, Texas; twin brother and sister-in-law, Don and JoAnn Slaughter of Klamath Falls; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Dr. Lyle Haley of Tigard; sisters, Bonnie Cobb and Grace Stratton of Klamath Falls; grandchildren, TaLeah, LaToya, Jerold "J.J.," Shayla, Megan, Gunner, Daniel, Megan Hudgeons, Jesse, Jason, Marla, Hiliary, Michelle "Kizzy Mae," and Tom; great-grandson, Christopher; and numerous aunts, nieces and nephews.

Sue Ann 'Suzie' Reeder
Sue Ann "Suzie" Reeder, 47, Klamath Falls, died Oct. 3, 2000, in Bend after a lengthy battle against cancer.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian McKenna and The Rev. Ron Maag will be the celebrants. Concluding services and interment will be at Klamath Memorial Park at 2 p.m. Monday. Ward's Klamath Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Reeder was born Feb. 28, 1953, in Berkeley, Calif., to Warren and Sybil (Gilbert) Neumann.
She moved 30 years ago to Klamath Falls from the San Francisco Bay area.
She married Dr. David Reeder on July 28, 1978, in Klamath Falls.
In 1983, she purchased Travel Unlimited and operated the business until her death.
Mrs. Reeder was affiliated with St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Bend, was a member of Klamath County Rotary Club and the Citizens Review Board, was past president of the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce, and was involved in numerous other community and volunteer organizations.
She loved spending time with her husband and her dog and liked to walk in the woods and play in the snow.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. David Reeder of Klamath Falls; mother, Sybil Neumann of Bend; sister, Sharon Tucker of Bend; father and stepmother, Warren and Debbie Neumann of Klamath Falls; brother, Warren Neumann of Klamath Falls; half brother and half sister, Carlos and Carlitos Neumann of Klamath Falls; stepsons, Jim Reeder and Mike Reeder and his wife, Ann, of Eugene; stepdaughter and her husband, Andrea and Mike Vigo of North Hills, Calif.; step-grandson, Calvin Reeder of Eugene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Imogene Briley Skelton
Imogene Briley Skelton, 87, died Sept. 28, 2000, in Lakeview.
A graveside family observance was held Thursday at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Skelton was born Nov. 24, 1912, in Bryans Mills, Texas, to Steven and Rouie (Stringer) Brock.
She lived most of her life in Lakeview, Bly and Klamath Falls.
She and her first husband, James Briley, operated the Bly Chevron for many years. She also sold Stanley Home Products throughout the Klamath Basin to her many friends and acquaintances.
Mrs. Skelton was preceded in death by both of her husbands, James Briley and Lee Skelton, and a daughter, Jackie DeArmond.
Survivors include her son, Ray Briley of Bandon; daughter, Shannon Lilly of Portland; brothers, Steve Brock of Lakeview and Bobby Brock of Naples, Texas; sisters, Patricia Cobb of Naples and Maxine Robison of Stockton, Calif.; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
