Virginia S. (Ison) Akers Aug. 27, 1916; Oregonian, p 1 "Wife Slowly Pines Away" Baker, Or., Aug. 26 Mrs. James Acres, a Baker County early settler, died this morning in Pocahontas. She had been slowly failing in health since the death of her husband last November. The immediate cause of death was heart trouble. She was born in Danville, Ky., March 17, 1844, and spent her girlhood in Missouri, coming to Baker County in 1863, where she was married soon afterward and where she spent the remainder of her life. She was a sister of the late Judge L. H. Ison, and is survived by three other sisters and five children, all of this vicinity.
