Thomas D. Giannini May 18, 1907; Oregonian, p 11 "Death of a Pioneer of '49" Huntington, Or., May 17 Thomas G. Giannini, who died recently, was born in Richmond, Va., November 25, 1888. At the age of 16 he sailed around Cape Horn and landed in San Francisco some time later in the times of the gold excitement, in 1849. After staying in California for some time, he went to Mexico for a while, then to Arizona, but not being satisfied with that country, he set out for Southern Oregon, gold having been discovered there in great quantities. There he settled down, and a few years lager went into the stock business. In 1870 Mr. Giannini was married to Mrs. Narrissa Winkinson, also a pioneer of '32, she having crossed the plains in that year with her parents by ox team. Mr. and Mrs. Giannini settled in Jacksonville, Southern Oregon, where they lived for many years. Fourteen years ago they moved to Huntington, Or. Mr. Giannini had been suffering for the past year from the effect of a tumor behind the ear, which finally caused his death. During his last hours he was surrounded by his family and a host of friends. He leaves to mourn his death a widow, married daughter and stepson, besides two brothers, Frank Giannini, of Howell, Ind., and Mariana Giannini, of Falls City, Neb. Mr. Giannini was a generous man and highly esteemed in the community.
