Capt. Josiah Myrick Dec. 30, 1906; Oregonian, p 7 "Captain Myrick is Dead" Captain Josiah Myrick, a well known Oregon pioneer and resident of Portland, died at the Connor Creek mines last Wednesday of pneumonia, at the age of 74 years. He was born in Newcastle, Maine, February 17, 1833, and came around the Horn to Oregon in 1852, locating at Oregon City. Soon afterwards, he went into the steamboat business on the Willamette and Columbia rivers, with Jacob Kamm, of Portland, and the late Captain J. C. Ainsworth. He was captain of the Jennie Clarke and other boats until 1870, when he and his associates in the Oregon Steam Navigation company became interested in the gold mines of Eastern Oregon. In 1858 Captain Myrick married Louisa Rae, a granddaughter of Dr. John McLoughlin. He leaves a widow and two daughters residing in Portland, and a son living in Los Angeles. The funeral services will be held at the residence, 595 Johnson street, at 10 o'clock this morning.
