Philip Berthold March 16, 1911; Oregonian, p 5 "Corvallis Pioneer Gone" Corvallis, Or., March 15 Philip Berthold, a pioneer, 67 years old, died at his home three miles east of Corvallis, Monday. Mr. Berthold was born in Germany, December 28, 1844, and came to America to cross the plains with his parents to Oregon when he was but two years old. They settled on the homestead in Linn County, where he lived continuously. In 1874, Mr. Berthold was married in Corvallis to Miss Mary Jordan. His widow and three children survive him. The children are Mark Berthold, of Arlington, Or.; Mrs. E. Lefler, of San Francisco, and Mrs. Claude Buchanan, of Corvallis. Mrs. A. E. Willoughby, a sister, and John Berthold, of Arlington, also survive.
