William Wallace Dow

   William Wallace Dow, who died in this county recently, was born in Pennsylvania, September 18, 1818. At the age of 18 he went to sea, and followed this life for about seven years.
   In 1848 Mr. Dow came to Oregon, and in 1857 was united in marriage with Miss Eliza Starks, of Benton County, where for 42 years they lived on the old donation farm. To this couple 11 children were born, seven of whom are living, as follows: Almond, George and Julian, of Linn County; Elen Weese, of Polk County; Prentiss, of Lane County; Mrs. Minnie Palmer, of Shaniko, Wasco County, and Mrs. Anna Mitchell, of California.
The death of this aged pioneer was due to cancer of the liver.
