Phebia (Cofer) Hill June 12, 1927; Oregonian, p 24 Alsea, Or., June 11 Mrs. Phebia Cofer Hill, a pioneer of 1853, died here Monday. Funeral services were held "Tuesday in the Alsea church, with Rev. W. D. Risley officiating. Burial was in Alsea cemetery. Mrs. Hill was born in Kirkville, Mo., May 16, 1839. She was 14 years old when her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Warfield, came west by covered wagon. She was married in 1855 to John Henry Hill, who died in 1906. One son, James Hill, 71, survives. Mrs. Hill lived for nearly 50 years in Lane county, 48 miles southeast of Eugene, on the old military road, a general field day.
