Jacob Hinkle Nov. 1, 1914; Oregonian, p 14 (photo) "Pioneer of Oregon Dies at Home at Philomath" Philomath, Or., Oct. 31 Jacob Hinkle, a pioneer of 1853 died at his home here October 26. Mr. Hinkle was born in Fayette County, Ohio, on October 1, 1825. In 1846 he married Elizabeth Wood, who died in 1904. In 1905 Mr. Hinkle married Elizabeth Conger Hinkle, who died a year ago. Mr. Hinkle assisted in furnishing lumber for the first church in Corvallis and was connected with the founding of the Oregon Agricultural College. Four daughters, 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren survive.
