"Monroe Pioneer is Dead"

   Thomas Douglas Hinton, a pioneer of Oregon, died at his home near here Wednesday.
   Mr. Hinton crossed the plains to Oregon when a young man and settled on a donation claim four miles north of Monroe, where ever since he had made his home.  He was married to Margaret Barclay who with eight children survives.  The latter are Henry and Fred Hinton of Irish Bend, Warren and Emmett of Corvallis, Ivan of Bellfountain, Wade of Monroe, Mrs. C. Sickles of Halsey and Amy Hinton of Monroe.
   Funeral services were held today.  Interment was in the Monroe cemetery.
