   Joseph A. Hite, a pioneer of 1853, died at his home south of Corvallis Saturday aged 76 years. The funeral will be held Tuesday in this city.
Mr. Hite took up a donation land claim when he came to Oregon, his farm having become a part of Shedd, Linn County. In 1882 he moved with his family to Benton County, where he resided until his death.
   His widow was Anna E. Walker, also of pioneer stock. He is survived also by one daughter.
