Porter Macauley, Sr. Oct. 6, 1923; Oregonian, p 6 "Pioneer of 1848 Dead" Corvallis, Or., Oct. 5 Macauley Porter Sr., Oregon pioneer of 1848, died last night at the Porter country home near Corvallis. Mr. Porter was born in Todd county, Kentucky, November 29. In the spring of 1848, Mr. Porter and his parents started for Oregon by teams. At the end of five months he and other members of the party reached a site near Oregon City, where he remained for a time and then followed his brothers to Benton county. Five sons were born to the couple and three of these, John F., Jesse and Mark M. Porter, survive.
