Jacob Slagal April 4, 1899; Oregonian, p 6 Monroe, Or., April 3 Jacob Slagal, a pioneer of 1852, died here yesterday noon of paralysis of the heart. Deceased was born in Missouri, July 3, 1820, and resided in that state until making the long trip to Oregon. Arriving in this state, he took up a donation land claim in what is now the central portion of Benton county, where he resided until recently, when he took up his residence with a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Porter. Other living children are: Sarah McKay and John Slagal, both of Jackson county, and Jefferson Stagal, of McCoy, Polk county, Oregon. His wife died in 1869. Mr. Slagal stood six feet three inches in his stocking feet. His life was a quiet and unassuming one.
