John R. Boyd June 22, 1921; Oregonian, p 14 Eugene, Or., June 21 J. R. Boyd, a pioneer of Lane county, 1852, died at Goble, Or., June 19, at the age of 83 years. He came across the plains by ox team and settled west of Eugene, where he resided until a few years ago, when he went to Goble to reside with his daughter, Mrs. Sarah Voigt. Besides Mrs. Voigt he leaves three other daughters, Mrs. Herman of Canby, Mrs. J. Walter Smith of Santa Clara and Mrs. Edgar Deane of Warrenton, and a son, George Boyd, of Walton. Mr. Boyd was a member of the Presbyterian church. June 29, 1921; Oregonian, p 6 Obituary --- John R. Boyd John R. Boyd, pioneer of Lane county of 1852, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sarah L. Perkins, at Goble, June 19, while he was visiting them following the pioneer and Indian war veteran meetings which he attended in Portland last week. He was buried at Eugene, on June 22, members of the Grand Army of the Republic and Indian War Veterans acting as pallbearers for the funeral. Mr. Boyd was born in Missouri, May 20, 1838, crossing the plains by ox team and settling in Lane county near Eugene, in 1852. He married Margaret Schultz and nine children were born, five of whom are still living. These are Mrs. Sarah Perkins of Goble, Mrs. Mary Miller of Canby, Mrs. Minnie Smith of Eugene, Mrs. Myrtle Dean of Warrenton and George Boyd of Walter. A brother, George Boyd of Albany, also survives him. Mr. Boyd was a veteran of the Rogue river Indian campaigns and also a member of the Oregon Pioneer society.
