Oliver Burris Jan. 13, 1933; Oregonian, p 10 "Oliver Burris Buried" Oliver Burris, 78, a Nehalem valley pioneer, died suddenly at his home at natal last Sunday. Funeral services and interment were held Wednesday at Clatskanie. Mr. Burris was born in Keokuk, Ia., July 5, 1854 and came to Oregon with Mrs. Burris in 1883, settling near Clatskanie. They moved to a homestead at natal two years later. Mrs. Burris died in 1899. Mr. Burris later remarried. He was a charter member of the natal grange, a member of the Nehalem Valley Pioneer association and was active in school and civic affairs. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mary Burris; two sons, Omar, Washougal, Wash., and Lloyd, Portland; three daughters, Mrs. J. McSparren and Mrs. William Howlett, Portland, and Mrs. Tom Akers of San Diego, Cal.; a brother, William, of Washougal; two sisters, Mrs. Laura McAllister, Fort Smith, Ark., and Mrs. Elizabeth Carroll of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren and other relatives.
