Richard Cox Aug. 23, 1914; Oregonian, p 11 (photo) "Columbia County Pioneer Passes at St. Helens" St. Helens, Or., Aug.22 Richard Cox, one of the pioneers and an influential citizen of Columbia County for many years, died Wednesday of heart disease. Mr. Cox was born in Andover, England, June 30, 1843, and migrated to Danby, Canada, in his boyhood. He came to St. Helens in 1877 and ever since has lived at the same place. In 1882 Mr. Cox was elected County Treasurer and served in that capacity until 1886, when he was appointed County Judge. He leaves a wife her, one son, J. C. Cox, of Portland, and two daughters, Mrs. H. M. Allen, of St. Helens, and Mrs. David Davis of Portland.
