Edward B. Wilcox May 9, 1909; Oregonian, p 5 "Pioneer of 1847 Passes" Clatskanie, Or., May 8 Edward B. Wilcox, who had resided on a farm near this place since 1876, died at his home this morning after an illness of two weeks, from pneumonia, aged 65 years, 3 months and 16 days. He leaves besides his wife a grown son and two daughters living here, Edgar, Cynthia and Evelyn, and a son by a former marriage, residing at Twisp, Wash. Two daughters are dead. William Wilcox of Clackamas County, and George Wilcox of Heppner, are brothers of deceased. Mr. Wilcox was born in Putnam County, Ohio, in 1844, and crossed the plains with an ox team with his parents in 1847, locating at Salem, Or. Soon after their arrival both parents died from mountain fever, contracted on the way, and Edward went to live with a sister in Clackamas County. His first marriage occurred there. He came to Clatskanie in 1876 and was married again tow years later to Miss Laura Johnson, daughter of a pioneer family.
