Robert H. Barnett Nov. 11, 1923; Oregonian, p 14 "Pioneer of 1853 Dies" Madras, Or., Nov. 10 Robert H. Barnett of this place died yesterday at the age of 92 years. He was an Oregon pioneer of 1853, having come to Oregon that year by oxteam from Toulon county, Illinois, with his father and mother, Ephraim and Jane McClenahan Barnett, and settling upon a donation land claim in Linn county, near Brownsville. During the civil war Mr. Barnett was a member of the home guards of Linn county, being in the company of which M. C. George was captain. He removed to Crook county in 1882 and located upon a homestead near Culver, where he resided until coming to Madras about 10 years ago. Mr. Barnett had been a subscriber to The Oregonian since early in 1860.
