John Haefner March 26, 1931; Oregonian, p 20 Burial services for John Haefner, 80, of Grants Pass, who died in that city last Thursday, March 19, were held Sunday morning at the Portland crematorium. He had lived in Oregon for about 11 years. Those who survive are the widow, two sons, Fred L. Haefner of St. Paul, Minn., associated with the Great Northern railroad; Henry E. Haefner of Grants Pass, associated with the United States forest service; two daughters, Mrs. Florence McCallum of Spokane, Wash., and Miss Ruth E. Haefner of Grants Pass; three grandchildren, Caroline, George and Jean McCallum of Spokane; two brothers, George Haefner of McGregor, Ia., and Edward Haefner of Omaha, Neb., and his sister, Emma, of Berkeley, Cal. Mr. Haefner was born July 13, 1850, at Sherills Mound, Dubuque county, Iowa. At the close of the civil war he moved with his parents to Girard, Ia., where he lived for 25 years. He was engaged with his father in making plows and later entered the creamery business. He was married June 6, 1878. The 50th anniversary of this marriage was observed in 1928 at the family home in Grants Pass. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, in which he had been an active worker for 66 years.
