Tennessee T. Lewis March 27, 1932; Oregonian, p 16 Funeral services for Mrs. Tennessee T. Lewis, 99, a pioneer of 1853, who died on Sunday, March 20, at Bridgeview, Or., were held Tuesday, March 22, in Kerby, Or. Mrs. Lewis, who was a member of the Oregon Pioneers association, was born in Linn county, Missouri, and came to Linn county, Oregon, October 1, 1853, with her father and stepmother. She was married November 29, 1853, to James P. Lewis, who died in February, 1906. Rev. H. H. Spalding, who came west with Dr. Marcus Whitman, performed the marriage ceremony. Mrs. Lewis had enjoyed exceptionally good health, and her death followed an attack of influenza. She resided with her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Holland of Bridgeview, Or. She is survived by three sons and three daughters, John M. Lewis, Portland, George W. Lewis, Grants Pass; James E. Lewis, Holland, Or.; Mrs. Eva Wetherbee, Wilderville, Or.; Mrs. Lizzie Holland, Bridgeview, Or. and Mrs. Mary F. Hiatt, Santa Rosa, Cal., 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
