   Word has been received here of the death Thursday at Bonanza, 25 miles east of here, of Mathias Walter. Rev. R. J. Allen, of the Methodist Episcopal Church, conducted the funeral.
   Mr. Walter was born in Ohio in 1829. In 1852 he crossed the plains to California with an ox team. In 1853 he married Miss Caroline Newman in California. Mrs. Walter died 20 years ago. They had six sons and three daughters, of whom eight are still living.
