Melissa Hartlerode

   Funeral services were conducted at Paisley, Or., August 14 for Mrs. M. L. Hartlerode, Oregon pioneer, who died there August 12.  Mrs. Hartlerode was born in Paris, Ohio, August 26, 1845, and was married in 1861 to Luther Bringham of a northern cavalry regiment in the civil war.
   Mr. Bringham died in 1862 in an army hospital at Fort Scott, Kans., and his widow was remarried in 1865 to Adam Hartlerode, a civil war veteran, with whom she went to California in 1874 and later, in 1890, to Paisley, Lake county, Or., where she remained until her death.  She was the mother of 12 children, nine of whom are living, 26 living grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
