George Williams Nov. 12, 1932; Oregonian, p 4 "Pioneer of 1879 Dead" Enterprise, Or., Nov. 11 George Williams, pioneer of 1879 in Wallowa county, died at the home of his niece, Mrs. James Read, in Lostine early Tuesday. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Weston F. Shields, Presbyterian minister of Enterprise, Wednesday, and interment was in the Lostine cemetery. George Williams was born near Blandinsville, Ill., June 22, 1852. In the spring of 1879 he came by covered wagon with his brother Hiram, and they settled on Parsnip creek in Wallowa county July 26, where the family home has remained every since. Mr. Williams was married in 1870, the year he moved from Illinois to Missouri, and from that state he came to Wallowa.
