George W. Hyatt April 8, 1927; Oregonian, p 3 "Early Settler Passes" Enterprise, Or., April 7 George W. Hyatt, early-day merchant of this city, was found dead in his office this morning by clerks who opened the store. Apparently he had started to work on his books last night and was stricken. Mr. Hyatt was 64 years old. He came to this county in 1888 from Ohio. Business reverses and grief over the loss of his wife, who died two years ago, are thought by his friends to have hastened his death. Mr. Hyatt was president of the Wallowa National bank here for several years; owned and operated the flouring mill, the first city water system and the first electric plant in the town. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge and of the Presbyterian church. Surviving him are two sons, Weldon, attending a college in Kansas City, Mo., and Robert, a senior in the high school of this city.
