John Fremont Spray Jan. 18, 1930; Oregonian, p 5 Fossil, Or., Jan. 17 John Fremont Spray, 70, founder and first postmaster of the town of Spray, Or., died here January 11. He was born in Indianola, Ia., April 11, 1859. He crossed the plains at the age of six years, but did not move to eastern Oregon until 1884. From 1907 to 1928 he lived in Cottage Grove, Or. In October, 1928, he moved to Fossil, where he was in business until the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Breeding October 28, 1883. Surviving are his widow, Mary Ellen Spray; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Pitcher of Fossil, and five sons, Elvin C., Eugene M., John R., Wilbur A. and Charles E.
